Today's #WarCorrespondentWednesday is all about award-winning Canadian Press (CP) correspondent Margaret Ecker.

Ecker was the only woman war correspondent for CP during the SWW and one of a handful of Canadian women who made it to the front as a verified journalist. 1/2

As a member of the Friends of the BC Archives, I like to brag we host some fun events 💁‍♀️

For our November Speaker Series event, we are excited to welcome military historian Dr. R Scott Sheffield! Join us online or in person for a fantastic talk about the BC home front during the SWW

It's #WarCorrespondentWednesday!

Enjoy weekly photos, newspaper clippings, & sound recordings of the war correspondents I've encountered in my research. To kick us off, here is Canadian public relations officer Colonel Gilchrist with a group of Canadian war correspondents in 1945.

Every copy of the game includes a three-fold map of Canada (the game board), with a cut-out spinner and marker arrows. On the back of the board are facts & illustrations about Canadian industries, resources, the ongoing Battle of the Atlantic, RCN, RCAF, and, of course, CBC coverage of the war 2/7

Cozy November days call for historical boardgames 🎲

In March 1942, CBC Radio created the game "Carrying the Tools to Britain" to help the public better understand the scale of Canada's war effort and the industries affected across the country. Let's get into the game! 🧵 1/7
