“More than 20 ag groups — including the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation — have urged EPA to keep drinking water nitrate limit unchanged because of how much it would cost to comply with a stricter maximum contaminant level.”
Nitrate spiked in C.R. water this year
Some of the treated drinking water of Cedar Rapids had nitrate concentrations that approached a federal health limit for months. It might be a recurring problem.

Water quality continues to be an important issue in Iowa. What happens when we have a new administration on 1/20/25 that makes decisions about the EPA? Who will hold federal or state agencies responsible? We need grassroots organizing more now than ever.
