Our state government, ruled by GOP, has been doing this here for the past several years. It's devastated our rural hospitals which are now mostly all closed. We now have food deserts and hospital deserts, and yet no courageous GOPs to make things better for poor and marginalized Alabamians.

Yet another example of the Alabamafication of the USA. I was one of the North Alabama UMC clergy to speak out against HB56. Clergy and leaders of many faith traditions gathered in Montgomery and in Birmingham and made a positive difference to oppose the hateful legislation.
