@prri.org #AVS2025 also finds that nearly two-thirds of Americans (64%) would prefer “the U.S. to be a nation made up of people belonging to a wide variety of religions,” compared with 32% who prefer “the U.S. to be a nation primarily made up of people who follow the Christian faith.”

@PRRI.org’s #AVS2025 reveals sharp divides in public confidence across major institutions nationwide. Republicans have a great deal or some confidence in the military (91%), and the police (86%), compared to Democrats with confidence in universities (78%), and news organizations (57%).

PRRI’s #AVS2025 finds that most Americans believe the Trump administration’s changes to the federal government have gone too far, with respect to cuts in federal funding for health care, research and higher education, increased funding for ICE, and the implementation of higher tariffs.

The 16th annual American Values Survey released by @PRRI.org and @brookings.edu finds that Americans are pessimistic about the country’s direction and the state of the country. Six in ten Americans (62%) believe things in the country are going in the wrong direction.

In PRRI polling conducted after the start of President Trump’s second term, a majority (52%) of Americans agree that “President Trump is a dangerous dictator whose power should be limited before he destroys American democracy.”
