Despite the election changes that received final passage, there's no guarantee the US Supreme Court will rule soon enough to give the Legislature time to redraw a congressional map before the election and no certainty the Supreme Court will throw out the current map. #lalege

House also votes 73-28 to push back constitutional amendment election date, to match the new election dates. Also final passage.

Senate also voted 27-9 to push back constitutional amendment election scheduled for April 18 to the May 16 election date.
Both SB1 and SB2 head to the House for debate.
Senate passed both bills in less than an hour. Lawmakers hope to wrap up special session next week. #lalege

Bill (Senate Bill 1) moves 2026 spring primary election to May 16, instead of April 18, and primary runoff election to June 27, instead of May 30.
