9/ It has been a year without his barks, his wags, his gritty howl, and his bright eyed smile. Close but far, we all miss him. His absence is palpable but his memory persistent.

8/ The night he passed there was a bright golden orb in the kitchen that all of us could see. It was beautiful.

7/ He fought to stay by our side but we had the best last day. The dog who didn’t love cuddles spent the morning spooning me and Rosie & afternoon soaking in sunshine. He enjoyed his favorite treats and toys & prepared for his journey. At the clinic, he gifted me those always asked for cuddles.

5/ Sammy was easily out of his comfort zone: hated walks but wanted to be included; accepted scratches, but not too many; didn’t want to leave the house but didn’t want to be without me.

1/ I agreed to foster a deaf, abandoned pitbull pup. When I arrived there was a shy, underweight, flea bitten, dog bitten, 3 yr old eskie without a name.
