No, thats smart. I'm literally doing the same thing right now. I cant close my bird's wings very easily at all so I've worked around needing to do it thus far, but you can believe I've copy/pasted wing animation over and over to reuse and edit.

Was the mesh transition handled engine side or were your keys on the mesh swap in software translated over to handle this?

oh, now that super interesting. Different wings makes sense because it seems pretty hard to get geo to behave properly for both states without some heavy rigging and mesh planning out the wazoo.

I'm working with a bird on my current project but its dimensions are heavily stylized compared to this more realistic approach. I'm a bit envious of the level of control. Would you mind sharing the rig's controls? I'd love to see how y'all were able to maintain the wing shape when closed and open.

I was going to ask about the head actually. did it have an IK control built in or did you painstakingly lock an FK control down?
