A Louisiana congressperson’s spouse once told my husband that the legislators all bring a lover when they go into session. I’m sure there’s a blackmail file on lawmakers at all levels to influence their votes.

Things I learned watching Mission Impossible in the theater:
1. I’ve healed a ton of authoritarian trauma from my time as a military wife.
2. I will probably never understand the appeal of seeing a movie in a theater.
3. You don’t have to be a good storyteller to make a ton of money.

The eggs situation has everyone scrambling while I'm just here... not vegan and not eating eggs as my usual way of being 🤷
Me and the vegans are completely unbothered. #EggFlation

In my reading of “legitimate” successful exorcisms, the way the demons embodied the person and the way they were cast out aligns perfectly brain science.

With 20 years as a navy wife and living spitting distance from the VFW post, this article speaks my truth.

The existential wounding from religious and spiritual trauma is neurologically different than other trauma and so needs a specialized approach.

When someone dies by suicide, their body is so limited in uncompensated range of motion that they are living in rigor mortis.

Their body is telling their brain that it is dead, and that creates the behavioral drive.

It can be objectively measured and treated to change the drive for self harm.

If we genuinely want to stop it, we need to start viewing terrorism as a trauma response.

This holiday, I was able to be with my habit of “trauma cooking” in a new way.

Instead of cooking to cope or process all of the terrible holidays in my memory, I was able to hold the inner child of my ancestors having a tantrum in my nervous system and soothe them. 🤍

The definition of embodiment is organized time perception and processing in your nervous system.

Grief is a very living thing

It visits at random

You can’t schedule it

I tried to work it away

I tried to drink it away..

All it did was wait for me to finish.”

~Tyler Perry

The holidays can bring up a lot of grief.

Every ancient myth and spiritual text started as

1. A way to describe the movement of the earth and stars.

2. A way to describe human anatomy, physiology, and the effects of stress on the body.

3. A way to describe the effect of the planets on the human body.

The War on Christmas:

Three things we all need to understand about it.

1. We all need drama. When life gets cozy, we'll pick a fight with a barista over "Happy Holidays,” bond with a conspiracy theory, manufacture a crisis, go do CrossFit, or take up a new hobby to live more interesting story.

We need a more compassionate society and I am happy to see Joe pardon Hunter.

So many of Hunter’s choices are attributable to trauma responses from losing his mother and sister at a young age.

My mother still reminds me of my worst choices to keep my shame and her superiority alive in her mind.

If you think people in the opposing political party are “stupid:”

“Stupid” at the level of the brain is your amygdala and subconscious circuits driving decision making.

We need to bake solutions for it into our media and communities.

I’m here for it.

Time for a Reality Check: Why We Need to Switch Away From Polyvagal Theory

I’ve been doing vagus nerve work with humans with physical and mental health diagnoses long before it was cool - at least 25 years.

I’ve long had issues with polyvagal theory. Here’s why:

🧠 Sacred Screens: When Movies Meet Spirituality! 🎬⛪

Your brain processes movies in theaters similarly to religious experiences.

Both create powerful shared moments of awe and transcendence (aka altered time perception!).

When I told my mom that she has always been a wolf in sheep’s clothing to me, she took pause and we had a meaningful conversation that opened up some healing.

I have said the same thing in other ways before but these words broke through the obstacles. 🐺 🐑
