Having been totally overwhelmed yesterday by the most revolting promotion of a far right minor opposition party leader's ravings on every single tv channel as headline news as if he was PM, I question why not one political commentator has asked why this non-story was given such hype?

Not made clear in this report, but partners have no recourse to public funds, pay for the NHS twice over, and their salary is not included in any application. The sponsor alone must demonstrate they meet the MIR, an impossible situation for many couples: www.bbc.com/news/article...

Grateful to Sarah for speaking @theguardian.com about the impacts of the UK's spouse visa rules. Whilst Brexit made the situation worse, the main issue was always there:
unless you are rich, you can't live in the UK with your loved ones, even if you are British.
