The Congo Basin is a forest of superlatives: today it is one of our planet’s last net carbon sinks, home to the world's largest tropical peatlands. Our future depends on our determination to support the people who call it home in their efforts to preserve it.

Several years ago, with the support of the National Geographic Society, Nichole Sobecki I embarked on a journey to explore the Congo Basin, the second largest rainforest in the world and one of the most understudied parts of our planet.
