One of today's projects is restoration of an 80s perfume bottle, the kind with the squeeze puffer. It had essential oil in it which clogged the mechanism and eventually turned to a resinous glue. My kitchen smells of myrrh, and so do I, so seasonally appropriate.

December is my lowest point mentally and one of my highest productivity months because distracting myself with projects becomes imperative to make it through. Blue, one of my elderly Siamese adoptees, likes the view.

The romas are starting to wrinkle, the heirlooms look a bit dull, but I'm really happy in general with how well the tomatoes are keeping in the cold cellar. Sungold is the hardiest keeper so far. All these were green when I brought them in.

Today's extra harvest, in addition to the garden, includes chestnuts from a friend's yard. Fuck the tradwife nonsense, I'm unemployed and taking advantage of every food opportunity we have, anticipating a hard winter.

One of our old rescue Siamese cats is fascinated with my broken ankles. Tonight he's making biscuits while resting his back feet on the top of my foot. He's a sweet nurse and it actually feels good, my nerves are a bit messed up after the surgery and light touch helps. Good boy, Blue.
