I first observed a large specimen of Manihot glaziovii in Owando (northern Republic of Congo). The leaves of this species are known for their cosmetic uses.

My journey to the forests of the North Congo Massif took me through Ouesso, in the north of the Republic of Congo, the gateway to the vast Sangha forests.

During my mission in Kabo, I met a loyal companion named Mohini, whose vigilance helped me avoid a direct encounter with a wild elephant. This powerful moment reminded me of the realities of the terrain and the importance of staying alert in the forest.

The visit to the Kabo nursery (Sangha) gave me a concrete insight into local forestry practices and reinforced my research perspectives on the domestication of forest species, particularly in relation to their ecological adaptation and potential for exploitation

I had the opportunity to visit a mongulu, a traditional hut of the Mbenzélé indigenous people of Pokola. True symbols of resilience and ancestral know-how, mongulus are a reminder of the cultural and ecological richness of these peoples.
