I don't know if anyone has already said this, but the Fate franchise (especially Fate/Grand Order) actually has the greek gods (and some other) be aliens that came from outer space millenia ago, but took the role of gods for the humans. So... it's definitely been done!

I don't know if anyone has already said this, but the Fate franchise (especially Fate/Grand Order) actually has the greek gods (and some other) be aliens that came from outer space millenia ago, but took the role of gods for the humans. So... it's definitely been done!
