I’m really happy to see your enthusiasm about this movie. But weren’t you bothered by the Nolan coded first half ? The same narratif where a « hero » Convince some special people to go with him on a mission and all the exposition filled dialogue that comes with it ? The second half was fun

The first part of the movie is interesting, loved how he uses real images of the protest. But then you have all those over cinematic scenes such as the mother cleaning the girl’s wound or the whole 45 last minutes which ruined the complex figure of the father and therefore conservatism.

I have such mixed feelings about Rasoulof’s movies. I feel like he always has a tendency to go too far in the unrealistic and therefore glamourising extremely harsh reality
