No doubt, Bill C-2 may help national security, but on the other hand it gives police and CSIS too much access to personal data. Without any strong supervision, it risks hurting privacy and Charter rights.

Should cities be allowed to use high-tech surveillance cameras in public spaces for safety if they risk violating people’s privacy rights?

UK police should use advanced surveillance but only in limited situations. Moreover, it can help with serious crime and safety but too much use of this harms privacy and freedom. Lastly, limits and strong rules are needed to protect people’s rights.

Canada has privacy laws to protect people but they are not strong enough to protect people from surveillance as these laws gives protection but the governments and companies can still collect a lots of personal data. Some technologies like camera are growing faster these days than the laws.

No I believe that police should not be using AI facial recognition as it can help catch suspects, but it can also harm privacy and make mistakes. Without clear rules, it may cause problems instead of helping.

“Should police use AI-powered facial recognition on body cameras if it risks people’s privacy and could be biased, even if it might help identify suspects?”

U.S.tech comapnies should be held responsible to a large extent because as if they know that their technology is used in China’s surveillance system is to monitor and control people. If their companies continue to use their technology even if they know that this harm people as this harm their rights

Should U.S. tech companies be held ethically accountable for how their technology is used in foreign surveillance states like China’s?
