Ecuador has been not using pennies for a couple of years. Here at least it seems to go both directions.

I’ll be spending a “fortune” that day in Ecuador, but not a penny for US goods.

$3.20 a cubeta in Ecuador. FYI, a cubeta contains 30 eggs.

Maybe some of us aren’t the cause. Also, we South Americans don’t appreciate being lumped in with some others on this continent.

I think you’re still only considering the hard core MAGAs. I think there are a lot more average people who can be swayed without the impact than you realize. They are beginning to feel duped.
February 21, 2025 at 7:30 PM
I think it’s more than that. My ex-husband who has had no impacts and could sit in his bubble and believe what they tell him told me that they’re making a huge mess. It is penetrating to people who aren’t impacted and don’t believe they will be. They just see the ridiculousness of it all.

Why does so much of what’s going on feel like a mashup of the plots of Idiocracy and Don’t Look Up?

Here is one recent example.

Well, we will just have to agree to disagree. He’s making such a huge mess, I truly believe he will fall sooner.

I’m not talking about the congresspersons and senators being borderline. I’m talking about the general public. As I said, they are leaving. His poll numbers are falling. If he’s unpopular, the elected officials will bail.
February 21, 2025 at 2:51 PM
What happened with Nixon was the same. He had many hard core supporters and many who were borderline. Then a straw broke the camel’s back. Listen to the Slow Burn podcast season 1. The borderline supporters are leaving. When his popularity plummets, the politicians will quit backing him.
February 21, 2025 at 2:42 PM
I’m old enough to remember the protests of the late 60’s and early 70’s clearly. They changed things. I think “being realistic” will cause people to be less proactive. I’m talking to those who can be swayed. Many are coming over. His poll numbers are falling. We can get his GOP to abandon him.
February 21, 2025 at 2:26 PM
*can’t wait*
February 21, 2025 at 2:14 PM
Lawsuits, protests, filling GOP mailboxes (voice and snail mail) with complaints, educating those that can be educated on what they’re doing, etc. We can wait for midterms. We won’t have a country by then.

I’m sorry, but many people are going to die, but you’re okay with it because it will teach them a lesson? I’m not okay with it. We need to fight now.

I’m happy I’m in Ecuador. But I sure hope my Social Security survives.

Great, but my disabled son and his disabled girlfriend voted for Harris and this is going to severely impact them.

We don’t use pennies in Ecuador and that’s with everything being cheaper. Every business rounds.

I’d certainly have a doctor’s appointment I had to be at. I would not be staying late for them.
February 6, 2025 at 8:09 AM
I had one like that. I tried just being super nice and helpful. At first it felt fake, but I just kept at it. This woman had tried to get me fired, tried to get our boss’s boss fired. She was impossible. Amazingly when I retired, she told the boss she was really going to miss me. Worth a try.
February 6, 2025 at 3:00 AM
I wasn’t played. I said it and many people didn’t believe me. But right now after all this shit, he’s still popular. I’m so over all his supporters right now.
February 5, 2025 at 4:31 PM
Hearing from folks in Ecuador that many of their “proof of life” forms are “missing” so they got no check. Not sure how widespread it is or if higher than normal for a February.
