Strengthening our democracy is a prioity for me.
My 2023 motion prompted Govt to begin disclosing Ministerial diaries, but the model is woefully inadequate & opaque.
In compliance with my Sept motion, Govt have released consultation paper on improving Ministerial diary disclosure scheme

It was an honour to be in our Upper House as it united to pass an important Bill providing financial redress for victims of former Tas laws against homosexuality and cross dressing.

Respected advocate Rodney Croome provided MLCs with briefings & joined us during the moving debate.

Yesterday for the 3rd time in 3 years, Leg Co supported my motion calling for reform of the current ministerial diaries disclosure system.
We need genuine reform to strengthen our ministerial diaries disclosure system, it’s time for Rockliff government to respect the Parliament and act.

Read my Talking Point in today’s Mercury Newspaper on the shameful attitude of the Rockliff Govt to the preventable harm being wrought on Tasmanian families by pokies. Losses are at decade highs, half is coming from people being harmed. The pokies card is the expert-advised way forward.

Great piece in Mercury from Dr Richard Herr OAM on excellent opportunity for our Parliament to legislate fixed-term elections to help prevent early snap elections being called for self-serving political expediency. Important to help restore trust & confidence in our democracy. #politas

Integrity Commission confirms new lobbying disclosure code put in ice because (1) the three major parties have effectively refused to comply it, and (2) funding for Integrity Commission key positions dealing with the new lobbying code had been cut in the recent Liberal state budget #politas

The Advocate editorial from 4 Nov 2024 hits the nail on the head - the vested interests of the pokies industry has 'got to' the Rockliff Govt (and Tas Labor Opposition) #politas

The Advocate editorial 19 Oct 2024 "The putrid smell of a cowardly and morally bankrupt backflip is wafting in the wind from the offices of our state government." Absolutely correct - the Rockliff Govt has abandoned vulnerable Tasmanians at the demand of vested interest political donors #politas
