Sydney person, likes music
This is my favourite. Always a winner. The look on people's faces the first time they try it! Wonderful aromas while cooking.(As a bonus, left overs, if any, freeze well)

Next, All Our Exes Live In Texas.
Was very keen to see this band. When they actually got around to singing, it was great, voices, harmonies beautiful, but as a concert, it was terrible, too much inane waffling between songs & you felt like they were talking to their in crowd & you weren't part of it

A put together group calling themselves The Others, comprising James Morrison on trumpet etc, Paul Grabowsky on piano & keys, & Kram (from band Spiderbait) on drums & percussion.
Don't quite know how to describe their music, but it was fantastic, one of the highlights of the festival

Ralph McTell, another of my "must see"
Didn't disappoint, beautiful voice, songs, stories, both spoken & in the songs.
And yes, he did play Streets Of London, & yes, it was wonderful
March 16, 2025 at 12:17 PM
Katie Noonan's Elixir was next. (Probably wouldn't have seen a full set, except for the rain thing)
Beautiful voice, but did tend to all sound a bit the same
March 16, 2025 at 12:17 PM
Luka Bloom was next, long fan of Luka, try & see him when he tours Aus.
Started with comments re what had happened in Christchurch the day before & opening with the song I'm Not At War With Anyone
Beautiful songs, beautiful voice. Ranged from a cover of Gangsta's Paradise to City Of Chicago
March 16, 2025 at 12:17 PM
Vika & Linda, one of my "must sees" of the festival. Playing with a great guitarist (who's name I don't know), also on back up vocals.
Beautiful vocals, harmonies, good selection songs, incl one of my favourites, We've Started A Fire

Then The Northern Folk, filling in this spot in the Big Top tent as one of the members of the group The Others had had flights cancelled because of weather.
Nice alt folk band, large number people on stage, guitar, horn section, 2 vocalists.
March 16, 2025 at 12:17 PM
...started with a Songwriters Circle. Luka Bloom, Wallis Bird, Rory McLeod & an unadvertised blow in, a bloke called Ralph McTell!
Each singing songs, telling stories, sometimes helping on the other's songs.

2009 Coldplay at Acer Arena, Sydney
Unexpected concert, brother & SIL had other things turn up & niece & nephew needed driver/responsible adult.
Unexpectedly good, thought they made good use of the stage, filled the space, with only the 4 of them, did a few acoustic songs in the stands.

This was brilliant. One of my concerts of the year. Trading verses on each other's songs & each taking over 1 song of the other's. Paul's version of Neil's Into Temptation one of the highlights

2020 Brandon Dodd opened for Patty Griffin
Really enjoyed his set. He had been playing as part of Kasey Chambers band for a few years, so got her to guest on a couple of songs
March 10, 2025 at 9:48 AM
2020 Patty Griffin at City Recital Hall, Angel Place, Sydney
Absolutely beautiful, voice, harmonies, musicians, songs. Took on additional meaning given the timing, as was likely to be (& turned out to be), the last concert I was going to see for a while.
