I’m going to bring an assortment of warm, colorful hats tomorrow to downtown Boise 🌈😉 I’ll be wearing one, if you see me, say “hey I love your hat!” and if I have one that fits you, it’s yours!

One thing I was most excited about was making crochet hooks, I thought how cool to be able to make craft tools at home! It needs some finessing, maybe use a different filament, but I was happy with it as a first try. Also designed a small weaving loom that’s pretty fun.

Share the one perfect shot that makes you go"Wow!"

I was on a roadtrip to Salmon, ID for a horticulture event and the Extension Educator always liked to stop to look at roadside wildflowers. It’s one of the best trips I’ve ever been on. Was super proud of this shot of a cleome flower!

This one is also very lovely, not sure how it gets enough moisture but it has been in one spot for a long long time which, of course, is a large factor for encouraging moss to flourish

I just finished reading Gathering Moss by Robin Wall Kimmerer and let me tell you… I’m prepared to protect this boulder in my yard with my life (only slightly exaggerating) 🫡 It sits below the downspout, near my half-finished rain garden I will totally get done soon I promise lol 🌱

My recent order from Rediscovered Books came in today!! I’m so excited, especially for Let’s Move the Needle but the others look wonderful as well 📚💖🪴

You crochet loosely on the first row so the edge doesn’t get scrunched. Single crochet in the hole, then a chain st, then the next sc in the hole. Corners can be iffy depending on how the holes were placed, generally I put 2 sc in the two corner holes, maybe an extra chain between the sets

Yes there is! There’s a blade refill that fits a standard handheld rotary cutter. I’ve seen them called skip stitch blades or perforating blades. Once you have the fleece cut to size, run the perforating blade 3/4” in from the edge. Then as you crochet, you fold down the edge on the backside.

Finished the crochet edge blanket I’d been struggling with! Little bobbles around the edge and a dark grey border to finish. I dropped these all off this morning and now it’s time for holiday crafting… 🧶

TW - snake

Was rambling around the yard today & heard rustling among the leaves. Found this little garter noodle trying to hide & then trying to get away. I figured he’d been sunning & was pretty much half asleep, because he could barely decide which direction to go. Took a pic and let him be 🥰🐍

Another baby blanket for donation! Crocheted with Bernat Baby Blanket in the colors Little Teal Dove and Baby Denim 🧶

Baby blanket for donation. Knitted on the bias with two strands of yarn held together, used Ice Cream from Lion Brand (color - Butter Pecan) 🧶

Here are two of my finished crochet edge blankets. The first (cat pattern) is simply single crochet stitches with a chain st between for each row. I went off script for the pink & orange one with two sc in the chain space. For my next one I’m trying small bobble stitches and… it’s a process lol

You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last tv show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you?

Every autumn, tiny leaves slowly fall from our humongous locust tree to reveal the true horror… the seed pods…

I caught the comet!! Only visible with long exposure (10s) but I managed and I’m so pleased 💫

Leon was harvested today (after pulling itself away from its vine)! I weighed it and it is a whopping 3.4 lbs woooo
September 20, 2024 at 3:40 AM
I can’t believe it’s already been a year (and that it’s only been a year) I was #634,314 apparently!

Leon’s getting LARGER!! 😂

We may actually get cantaloupe to eat this year, I’m so excited. Kinda wish I had gotten some watermelons too. Next year! (Always planning for next season…)

Wow she looks so much like my (late) kitty Jinx. 😍 I did a double take! Hope she recovers well from her dental work! (Jinx had the teeth of a much younger cat but she did have thyroid and kidney issues… so much to worry about and keep up on!)

As promised, a pic of the crocheted melon hammock (lol)

So supportive ooh wooow 😂
August 5, 2024 at 5:30 PM
My partner built an arch structure over the cantaloupe bed to support the vines & keep the fruit off the ground. We were shocked to see a rather large fruit developing & tonight I scrambled to make a hammock to secure the fruit in. (And will need to make many more) I will post a pic of that tmrw!

It was my birthday last weekend. Very quiet day, spent time with family. I turned 42, which of course is the answer to the great question of life, the universe and everything.
