I was really looking forward to the R(ev)ise and Shine writing retreat so I could hone my craft, but this retreat gave me so much more- a sense of community. I hope this feeling stays with me until next year. #ReviseandShine

I challenged myself to read (or re-read) one banned book for each day of Banned Book Week. I found joy, love, anger, hate- every aspect of humanity in these beautiful books. Every person deserves to see themselves reflected in books. #nocensorship #freepeoplereadfreely

Day 6: My favorite independent bookstore showcases banned books. So many amazing books! I picked “And Tango Makes Three” by Peter Parnell, Justin Richardson, and Henry Cole, a true story about two male penguins at the Central Park Zoo who adopt a baby penguin. #bannedbookweek #freepeoplereadfreely
