Talking with Christen Press this weekend, she told me she's match fit for 90 minutes. Asked Angel City HC Alex Strauss if he may lean on her more in what may prove to be the final NWSL play-off push.

She’s not injured, so she’s in contention. It’s tough competition, and there are a lot of players fighting for the same position as Christen. She’s fit, and that being said, she has played most of the games since I’ve been here, maybe not 90 minutes. She’s most often come on from the bench. But that is also a part of where we believe games are going to be decided. Christen Press is a game decider. We want (her) fresh and ready when the games are going to be decided, and that’s what we have prioritized. That has been a role that I think she can have coming the next two games, the last two games of the season, but she is also in contention for (starting). A group of 25 players, how you can utilize everyone and to the strengths, that’s my job, and I understand all of these other things. … Christen, the finisher, is still at the same level that she has ever been, so we know she can finish the game for us and be the player that can decide it in our favor.

NEW YORK AND TORONTO (October 6, 2025) –– The IIHF, the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL), and the global women’s hockey community have come together to reimagine the international calendar, aligning around a shared vision to grow the women’s game and strengthen opportunities for players at every level. As part of this collaboration, the IIHF Women’s World Championship will move to a new November timeslot, in advance of the PWHL season. The revised tournament calendar ensures there will be no clash with the closing stages of the PWHL campaign. It also enables a full World Championship program in Olympic seasons. In addition, a new European Women’s Championship is set to start in April 2027, creating more opportunities for elite international competition, ensuring the development of women players throughout the entire season, and elevating visibility for women’s hockey across Europe.
