In addition to being an excellent journalist, he was kind, witty & always such a gentleman. His dry wit, calm demeanor & deep broadcaster's voice are just a few of the things I will always fondly remember.

She hasn't officially launched her South Carolina gubernatorial campaign - a "special announcement" is planned on Monday - but Rep. Nancy Mace's upcoming Myrtle Beach town hall is being hosted by...

... Nancy Mace for Governor.

In 2020, I talked Democratic presidential hopefuls a lot about reparations, an issue about which Khanna has been asked twice today:

“I have consistently supported the idea that we have to correct the historical injustice of 250 years of slavery & 100 years of Jim Crow.”
July 20, 2025 at 11:57 PM
Khanna has gotten a rousing reaction from this diverse crowd of a couple hundred.

Signs read “Benefits over Billionaires.”

Pointing out his Silicon Valley district is the nation’s wealthiest, Khanna says he wants to grow US jobs w/ 1000 trade schools & “AI academies.”
July 20, 2025 at 11:39 PM
Now I’m in Greenville, where Khanna is speaking to a crowd at Mountain View Baptist Church.

“The people in this room - this is what America looks like,” he says.

Traveling with Khanna across SC is Rep Jonathan L. Jackson - son of Greenville SC native Rev Jesse Jackson.
July 20, 2025 at 11:39 PM
Khanna also stresses his relationship with Clyburn, SC's lone congressional Dem & seen as major influencer in the party.

Khanna - whose parents immigrated from India - says he "wouldn't be an American if it weren't for people like Mr. Clyburn," given his civil rights advocacy.

Today I'm in Columbia SC, where Rep @rokhanna.bsky.social is taking part in a roundtable discussion hosted by the NAACP.

Khanna started a 4-day trip through SC on Friday.

@repjamesclyburn.bsky.social just described the California rep as one of his "closest friends & confidants" in Congress.

Newsom’s next event was in Pickens, a heavily GOP area where Trump held a massive rally in 2023.

Referencing the area’s politics, local Dem chair said that “on this red dirt there is blue fire.”

Across the street there are more protesters. I was next to a window and could hear them yelling.
July 9, 2025 at 5:06 PM
Now Newsom is going after Sen. Lindsey Graham, who lives here in Seneca & is up for reelection next year.

Lots of boos when Graham’s name is mentioned.

Newsom calls the support by Graham & other Republicans of Trump’s tax cuts bill “outrageous.”

Unrelated aside: today is Graham‘s 70th birthday
July 9, 2025 at 2:11 PM
So far Newsom’s formal remarks mirror yesterday’s, decrying Trump’s policies that run “America in Reverse.”

One addition: Big cheers when he says “God Bless Clemson” which is right down the road from here.
July 9, 2025 at 2:08 PM
Today I’m in Seneca, a deeply conservative South Carolina area where several dozen Trump supporters are protesting CA Gov @gavinnewsom.bsky.social upcoming appearance.

One of them just told me he recently moved here from CA to get away from Newsom’s leadership “or lack thereof.”

Maybe the biggest reax comes when Walz mentions GOP Rep. Nancy Mace, whose name elicits a groan + boos from the audience.

With the 2026 elections in "about 500 days," Walz suggests voting Mace out "& then you won't have to see her on TV any more."
May 31, 2025 at 3:09 PM
Saying the best thing about Musk is that he "quit," Walz also has this to say re: recent reporting on the billionaire's purported drug use:

"Isn't it funny that they want to drug test SNAP recipients & not that dude? ... This shitshow has only been going on for about 4 months."
May 31, 2025 at 3:08 PM
Speaking to delegates, Walz's remarks are similar to those he delivered last night: praise for Clyburn & Harris + critique for the Republicans who "voted for this big, beautiful, bullshit" re: the spending bill.
May 31, 2025 at 3:07 PM
Today I'm back in Columbia, South Carolina, where @scdemocrats.bsky.social are holding their convention.

@governorwalz.mn.gov is back for Round 2, set to headline this morning's events.

Afterward, he heads west, where he'll do a similar duty for California Democrats.
May 31, 2025 at 1:51 PM
Addressing hundreds at the Fish Fry - a well-trod path for many Democrats who have run for the White House - Walz decried Trump & “that dipshit Elon.”

Moore talked about Dems standing up to say “we understood the assignment” in winning future elections.
May 31, 2025 at 2:53 AM
After the dinner, I went across town at Clyburn’s World Famous Fish Fry, where both govs + their host spoke with reporters ahead of addressing the crowd.

Moore & Walz were both asked about running in 2028 - & both said focus should be on this year.
May 31, 2025 at 2:52 AM
The visit is part of the Trump admin’s 1st 100 days programming - but it’s *always* campaign season. 👀

Vance & EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin will be joined by SC Rep Nancy Mace & Lt Gov Pamela Evette, both Trump backers who’re angling for the 2026 GOP gubernatorial nomination.
May 1, 2025 at 3:20 PM
Going through my (overflowing) inbox & seeing that SC’s lone congressional Democrat, @repjamesclyburn.bsky.social, is planning 2 town halls next week in GOP districts, during the US House recess.

I didn't have I didn’t have watching Ringo Starr making his debut at the Grand Ole Opry on my 2025 bingo card, but I’m really glad it is! 🤩

You can see the video on my Twitter account. He was fantastic and ageless!

DNC chair candidates have also been asked about perceptions of misogyny in politics, Trump’s “Kamala is for they/them” ad & the DNC’s role once the party has a nominee.
January 31, 2025 at 2:44 AM
2025 just began & the 2026 midterms are already underway.

Sen. Lindsey Graham's campaign tells me the SC Republican has $15.6M cash on hand as he seeks a 5th term.

That includes $900K raised in the last quarter of 2024 alone.
