A guy on a dating app once sent me multiple paragraphs about why he hated it (said he only read 20 pages that his “writer friend” gave him after ripping the book up bc of how bad it was) — I don’t think I’ve ever unmatched anyone quicker

It’s not enough for Putin to win over the Georgian government. No occupation is ever successful if the hearts of the people aren’t also “occupied” and/or their spirit isn’t broken. Georgian hearts will never accept a Russia-friendly government — history has shown this much over and over.

And as someone who grew up in Georgia I can tell you one simple truth: a Georgian is, to one’s core, proudest of being a Georgian. Patriotism and love of own history and culture run too deep in their veins to ever cede to a radically different Russian government.
