South Africa's highest court has ruled that husbands can take the surname of their wives, overturning a law that barred them from doing so! The Constitutional Court ruled that the law was a "colonial import" that amounted to gender-based discrimination. www.bbc.com/news/article...

The UN has declared Sudan a "gender emergency".

The Unit for Combating Violence Against Women in Sudan, as of March 2025, there have been 1,138 cases of rape recorded since April 2023, including 193 children, most of whom were in conflict-affected areas.

Very interesting gender story from BBC Korea Service, K-drama actress Lee Si Young, announced she is pregnant with her second child from her ex husband- baby was conceived using a frozen fertilised embryos AFTER they broke up, and without her ex’s permission.

Indian tennis player Radhika Yadav, 25, has shot dead by her father at their residence. Indian media reports that he shot her 3 times from behind, because she refused to close her tennis academy upon being told to do so. He had allegedly been taunted by his daughter’s financial independence.
