So grateful for the barnmate who caught my mare’s colic a couple years ago. She had to be tubed 3 times and spent 3 days in the hospital but she’s living her best retired life now.

I have a sign on my computer that says, “Your horses are accustomed to a certain lifestyle!” So I just look at that whenever I want to give up or quit.

Yep. Silva Martin had a similarly freak accident, and a helmet saved her life.

It’s why I always wore a helmet even on my very safe mare. There have been catastrophic TBIs resulting from a simple stumble on a well-behaved horse.
