For the 2nd summer in a row in early July, Grackles have come through and beheaded every marigold in my garden. Last year over night, today in broad daylight. They leave every other flower alone. I love birds but love my garden more. Has this ever happened to you? What a wild behavior.

Like, really fun.

I made this for my husbad’s 40th bday party yesterday. It was epic. That’s all.

And the world spins madly on. Thankful for another spin around the sun.

Today I bought a bunch of flowers and my joy meter is on full blast. It’s wild how much flowers improve my emotional wellbeing. My dining room becomes a greenhouse the end of April into May every year while we wait for the last frost. And the overflowing colors are giving me life.

I’m probably screwed. Who could ever resist this cuteness?

RFK confirmed as health secretary. Peak insanity. Just so much grief now and ahead.

This has been my go-to the past couple of weeks. I knew it was coming with RFK but damn. Still hits the gut like a sucker punch.

Sometimes you have to get your Colorado kids to the ocean. It really knits something together in your heart like nothing else can: the sound of the waves, the smell of the salty air, the humidity on your skin. There is breath in our lungs and their laughter in my ears. Today I have everything.

I’ve really struggled to pick up my knitting this year. Like, total creative mental block struggled. I’ve been working on it in therapy and today I picked up my needles and just let muscle memory kick in. And the soft yarn was like balm for my nerves and heart. Perfect timing for this breakthrough.

This is genuinely one of my favorite books I’ve ever read to my kids. The Ogress and the Orphans by Kelly Barnhill. While it’s the sweetest fantasy, it’s also extremely timely and speaks directly, courageously, and strongly to the current political, social, and cultural moment. We can’t put it down.

This is unusual for Denver. But it’s beautiful.

Smells like Christmas. 🎄

The view from my desk tonight as the sun was setting. That is Mt Meeker in front of Longs Peak. A mountain view I’ve enjoyed over the years since I was in middle school. Nothing quite like an orange and blue Colorado sunset.

This is my dog, Lola. She has a 10yo girl who loves to dress her up and loves to match with her. Today Lola matched with a Merry Grinchmas shirt. Lola is the sweetest dog and a good sport with her kids. 🐾
