I study philosophy of addiction and drug policy reform. Safe supply, harm reduction, drug user oppression & rights, analytic philosophy
My reading is that Section 56(1) of the CDSA can basically be read as saying "If it turns out this law sucks, then it doesn't apply." Interestingly promising (compared to the US), but also really weird? And almost all of the law sucks, so maybe the CDSA implies the CDSA should be thrown out.

Does this include books like "Better Angels of Our Nature"? Even before delving into the scholarship on history of violence trends and such, and apart from questions on Pinker's credibility, it seems there's reason to worry such an ambitious book just *couldn't* be well-researched enough.

I think it's fair to say Malcolm financially benefited from anti-Poppy stuff & to be critical of him (his videos on her are pretty good, tho). But GayFesh? Last I checked, he made a grand total of zero videos about her. (Lux made one long & great video, and I don't know or care if that made money.)

You've been more adamant than just about anyone else about the importance of distinguishing true accusations against Poppy vs. false or dubious accusations against Poppy. That's really good.

So like if someone wants to say "Purdue/Sacklers don't deserve this amount of charity" I can respond "Sure, but some of these statements are still false, they misrepresent the opioid medical evidence, they conflate addiction and physical dependence, they harm lots of innocent people, etc."
