I wonder if it’s a little of both. A common suggestion for people who are in cults is to continue to emphasize that you are there for them and available. Maybe broader social stigma and loss has to be accompanied by some empathy so people know they have somewhere to land if they leave?

Schumer is my senator and I will not be voting for him again. At this point I don’t even care if he gets beaten by a Republican, because what’s the point of a dem senator if they just vote with maga? I hope he gets primaried, but would take a whole lot for me to consider voting for him regardless

I see people asking what they are supposed to do. They are supposed to lead the opposition! They are supposed to do more than act like it’s politics as usual. Opposition parties the world over do this, Dems seem to be waiting for somebody else to come in and lead for them (with notable exceptions).

Where is the majority of the Dem Party right now? I live in NY and I might as well not have senators for all I see them doing. Much of the party seems to have decided opposition means they can sit back and do nothing. Sanders isn’t even a Democrat and he is doing more for the party than its leaders.

This really sounds like they just wanted to give the spot to Alex so they did. Absolutely nothing against Alex, he is an excellent athlete, but I agree with your podcast assessment that this doesn’t seem like following their selection procedures.

As someone who uses AI every day for work, it is absolutely not an improvement on books and the regular internet for people without an education. You need so much base knowledge to filter out the AI’s crap, not to mention you need critical thinking skills which the AI cannot teach you.
