They are the lifeblood of the communities they serve and it’s been a privilege to see so many of these magical places while they do their thing as only they can.

They all have this in common: they are fiercely local, deeply welcoming, and have become indispensable hubs in their communities. Especially in small towns, these shops operate as safe gathering spaces and locations where good conversation and big ideas are always encouraged.

I’ve been lucky enough to go on a bunch of book tours over the past few years and have spent time in some of the most charming, vibrant, and delightful small bookstores you can imagine.

But even if you’re not lucky enough to live near this perfect little book lover’s paradise, there’s sure to be an indie book purveyor near you. Go check them out. Grab a book. Make a friend. Maybe even change your life.
