I’m endlessly amused to learn that there was also some sort of elephant-shaped house of ill repute at the Moulin Rouge at around the same time. People in the late 19th c just really liked getting it on and/or doing drugs in elephants

Apparently yes, but it was a *different* terrifying giant elephant that you could go inside of for a good time

TIL that a giant TERRIFYING ELEPHANT BUILDING used to dominate the Coney Island landscape in the late 1800s. It started as a hotel, very quickly became a brothel, and eventually burned down under mysterious circumstances. The dude who built it thought animal bldgs were the future of architecture.

He’s at it again, no one is safe

This is very silly and I should be working on literally anything else right now, but I need art therapy, damn it. Will I ever finish it? Remains to be seen.

I did another seasonally appropriate feline art

I saw a photo of a panther fiercely protecting a pumpkin and had to draw it. Not sure of the original source for the photo reference.

Quick study of my son and a neighborhood cat buddy. I’m liking the new Procreate brushes!

Once again, I am blown away by my kid’s illustration/character design chops. Look at these little guys.

My 12-year-old somehow ended up in her BFF’s very enthusiastic railfanning text group and drew this series of increasingly irate reaction images in response to random train chatter blowing up her notifications at all hours

EEEEE look at this art of Hermann and Horatio (plus a hint of supernatural menace) that I commissioned from Beelzeebub/beelzafterdark on Instagram 🤩🤩🤩 Could he look any more quintessentially Hermannish? (Also, this is ostensibly a “sketch” with a “simple background” but the detail? The linework?!!!)

The paperback version of The Shabti is out in the world today! 🥳 It’s not available on Amazon due to some kind of distribution snafu (well, it is, but the wait time is 1-2 months?!), but you can get it from less evil retailers such as Bookshop.org!

This is my current work buddy. I should probably relocate them outside, but I’m enjoying their tiny, quiet company.

I forgot about this drawing I did of a Discord buddy’s cat (she has a tiny pool table for a bed)

I sense a vibration from the other side—something papery and suspiciously book-shaped is passing through the veil into our realm! Get The Shabti in paperback 9/30.

I’m about 6 months into my quest to maintain health and sanity in the midst of this hellscape by gettin’ SWOLE (or at least reasonably fit by my personal standards). Don’t mind the intense death stare, that’s just my resting concentrating-real-hard-on-getting-my-torso-in-the-frame face.

We’ve been rewatching the LOTR movies. IDK what this guy planned to do with a Hobbit-sized mithril coat, but this is now canon as far as I’m concerned

Y’all, there’s so much… fascinating…. stuff in this job post I found today, I’m not sure where to begin. But the best is pretty much everything in this bit right here. (Pay rate? $3/hr)

Get The Shabti…. before it gets you! Available in paperback wherever fine books are sold, Sept. 30th.

Now for something a little different: the event I'm sharing today is hosted by Read Between the Lynes, an indie bookshop in Woodstock! Snag a free audio copy of Little Library of Banned Books by Lula Dean! readbetweenthelynes.com/event/2025-1...
