This is the blessing and the curse of NixOS. By regular OS standards including Ansible managed and Docker based systems the system is fully reproducible from single config.

But in Nix you can spend next week trying to automate stuff you wouldn't even *think* about with other distro.

Don't.

Once you do, you won't be able to use any other distribution. You won't be able to relate to users of other distributions.

I've found that some things are surprisingly easy, some are surprisingly hard. But any other distribution feels like Windows 98 now.

There are multiple points where Ukraine makes one sided concessions. But it does not really matter, because it's not a capitulation and thus not acceptable for russia.

No compromise is possible until russia realizes they already lost the "3 day war" and can't achieve any of their initial goals.

What was the issue with GNOME? I want this for very causal user.

I find that NixOS is actually great to manage for family members, but it needs to work reasonably well.

How's the suspend working? Is it reliable enough for user used to Mac OS? I have one such laptop and keeping it updated will soon be impossible, so this feels like decent option.

How is russia still member of INTERPOL? They abuse the system to harass dissidents and opposition abroad.

Right now almost half of red notices is submitted by russia. (3100 out of 6500) For comparison China, India and USA have 550 notices COMBINED.

I don't think there's anything in /etc that wouldn't be normally managed by NixOS.

Some folks even run ephemeral setup where such directories are built every time at boot time.

I had this issue on a system with just enough space for the OS. What I did is comment out the heavy stuff (IIRC the whole graphical desktop) apply that, then `nh clean all --keep 1`

Then I did the upgrade and afterwards reenabed the commented bits.

But yeah NixOS requires decent disk space.

They are condemning strike on tankers that don't officially transfer anything because that would be against sanctions. Even calling it civilian facility. But I've yet to see them condemning russian attacks on apartments that are happening daily.

What would be the use case? Pretty much all of /etc is automatically built by Nix and NixOS configuration is better stored in git.

I've read somewhere that it was heading towards russia. If that's true it would be empty at that time.

It's a good way to pre-bake your desired config and perhaps manage it this way. But yeah UCI sucks and this still feels like Nix config that 90% relies on activation phase scripts..
