Ugh! The petty bickering was easily the worst part of it takes two.

Have you tried Unravel 2? They sewed the mouths shut at least 😅

I was excited to learn more about the SpaceBork series, expecting something very Douglas Adams-esque, but Google told me it's a typo for Spaceborn 😔

Taskmaster is so fantastic, it's my default show. I've just started S3 of the NZ series.

How is Split Fiction? My partner and I enjoyed It Takes Two, but Split Fiction seemed a bit more involved, and I wasn't sure if she would jive with it as much.

Fire Emblem has always had spectacularly ugly enemy portraits.

womp womp.

I never did get along well with RNG.

I honestly forgot how slow everything is. Gotta set Animation to off and game speed to fast.

To me, Zoras will always be green. Not blue.

It's less about the risk of not receiving anything, and more about the risk of receiving a subpar product when there are so many other known great games are available to buy right now.
January 6, 2026 at 2:30 PM
But why take the risk at all? In the podcast ep Tim asks "why pay for a game that hasn't been made yet based on influencer hype or reviews of a prototype, when you could buy a new game that has been reviewed by the general public as is?"

Oh I'm so the opposite. The scripted tutorials do nothing for me. I'd rather have a physical rulebook of course, but you can't have everything!

But it can be challenging to not lump in small creators who need crowdfunding like Asmadi Games or Fowers Games with the outfits who abuse the platform.

Absolutely! I backed the new expansions for Bullet❤️ because I want the product to exist. It's the same reason I backed one deck galaxy after loving One Deck Dungeon. Its because I want your games to exist. Saving money is all well and good, but if you want those products to exist, they need support.

I can't think of a game that I truly missed out on because I didn't back the Kickstarter that I wasn't able to pick up second hand afterwards for a similar price.

I have many examples of Kickstarted games that I paid less for in store after the fact!

I fully agree that the majority of companies don't need to be using crowdfunding and it's worse for consumers, but it's such an attractive option for businesses. I'm sure miscalculating a print run by a thousand units could sink a small company, so having customers prepay alleviates that concern.

Halfway through the episode and I got a sudden urge to check on my outstanding crowdfunding campaigns. I only have 1, and it's expansions for a game I adore (Bullet❤️).

Awesome! I did the Zelda Symphony in Vancouver with my wife almost a decade ago, and it was the most magical event.
January 4, 2026 at 12:51 AM
Ooh, are you going to the symphony? I wanted to go, but I couldn't stomach the ticket cost while unemployed 😅
