Today we celebrate Nilde Iotti, an EU pioneer and a prominent figure in the fight for women's rights who was committed to the idea of a fair and equal Europe.

She was a resistance fighter during World War Two and fought for open European elections in her work as an MEP.

So, when a man earns 100 euro, a woman earns 88 euro. This is the difference in average gross hourly pay. The EU aims to close this gap with its pay transparency rules.
