Today I joined my Democratic colleagues in condemning Trump for defying court orders and withholding food assistance from Americans. He could restore full SNAP benefits right now but chooses not to. Republicans must return to DC to negotiate a bipartisan deal that reopens the government.

Rep. Grace Meng and I met with hospital leaders at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center to discuss expanding access to affordable health care for Queens families. The Republican health care crisis puts care out of reach for too many Americans. Everyone deserves reliable care. It’s a basic right.

More than half of ACA (Obamacare) enrollees live in Republican districts, yet GOP lawmakers prioritize tax cuts for billionaires over the health of their own constituents. They would rather see people uninsured or forced to pay more out-of-pocket for care.
