It's possible, but I think the more likely explanation is that Taylor Lorenz saw an opportunity to keep building social capital as an "influencer journalist". She has a history of leeching off corporate media giants like NY Times and WaPo, and has even explicitly stated her intent with it.

To be honest, this mostly seems to be on Taylor Lorenz for making a mountain out of a molehill. She has yet to even acknowledge the existence of pro-Palestine creators on Chorus and ran to Glenn Greenwald to continue her disinformation campaign. And I do think it's deliberate at this point.

Transparency was sort of left up to each creator, it seems like. Heidi openly said she was joining the Chorus program many months ago on her IG. Chorus itself was very public about what it was and its goals, a lot of which Allie elaborated on in her response to the article.

They're lying. There are at least two Chorus influencers that I'm aware of that openly blast Israel and the DNC. They are Heidi Torres and Allie O'Brien, and the latter made a ten-minute response on her TikTok that you can look up if you're curious.
