I'm just this guy, you know? I'm also terrible at self-promotion. Medieval drama, manuscripts, and digital humanities. Sometimes in that order. When I can I edit the Minor Works of John Lydgate virtual archive (http://www.minorworksoflydgate.net/).
One final reminder - submissions for Kalamazoo are due tomorrow! Still trying to decide on a panel? Doing work with Lydgate or the fifteenth century more broadly? Consider the Lydgate Society sessions. Interactive .pdf with submission link at www.sandbox.matthewedavis.net/ICMS_Lydgate...

Other than the general me-ness of the picture I think I quite like the webcam setup I've dialed in. The script I created to run my dslr as a webcam via linux, use it via OBS, then use OBS' virtual camera with other tools is robust and the lighting was not bad.

I made a change and this is my current desktop setup. The lamp is there for lighting for the camera, since I have a meeting where I'll use it tomorrow. There's another one off-camera as well.

I don't like this sort of theme. I'll post the way things used to look, as well. I like the menu across the top and the image is a slideshow, which adds some action that I don't think happens otherwise. I do like the more understated name, but I'm not sure how to get that with the old theme.

So this is what the site looks like right now in dev. No images, but at least the navigation is there now. I don't know that I have the time to build a whole new theme today, since Drupal is a _pain_ to theme. But this is nice enough that people could in theory get to the articles and syllabi.

There's some real "no war in Ba Sing Se" vibes coming from the administration right now.

I had forgotten that the portable monitor I took on my year at Durham had mini-DisplayPort as one of the options, and that I had about a million DisplayPort to mini-DisplayPort cables from the macs we all had.

It's the last class of my giant split freshman comp/intro to digital humanities course, and thus the last time I'll see my three TA's together. Last year I mailed them stuff from the US and found out they immediately lose their mailroom privilages when the term ends.

I built it during COVID times when I was helping my mom out since my late father was immuno-compromised. All you need is either beamsplitter glass or (expensive) or something that approximates it (go with this), a way to hold it at an angle so it reflects the screen, and a way to cover the back.

6. A nice pair of brogue boots, since I'll still wear those. The ones I ordered aren't going to arrive until towards the end of December, though, so I may be coming up with an alternate solution.

5. In what I consider the most controversial purchase (because they were $31 and I can't see wearing them again) these collar tips that are currently stuck in limbo between the US and Canadian border due to the Canadapost strike.

4. A traditional western snap shirt. I had the hardest time with this one because I'm 6'5" and clothes are not built for my height, but I ended up with this red broadcloth Roper shirt. Wrangler's sleeves were too long, weirdly.

3. A bolo tie. I couldn't find one that had a big enough slide for what I was thinking, so I found a belt buckle that I repurposed.

A proper belt that I can replace the buckle on, plus a big buckle that says "Texas." Technically, it should probably be a ranger belt (and I got one), but I'm not sure how a ranger belt would look with a giant belt buckle.

1: Western blazers. I'm not sure which color combo will work best, so I picked up three.

However, I kept four of them -- a Bailey Fedora, a Cuffley cap, and two Stetsons. Why my dad had two Stetsons I don't know. At any rate, the smaller of the two is a nice hate to wear daily, and I've taken to doing so. That's the fawn-colored hat here.
