Why does it sit and watch all of its friends mingle with others, while it’s too busy rotting?

Why does it willingly put itself into places where it knows it’ll be hurt?

Why does it bother trying to stay alive?

Why doesn’t it just die?

Why isn’t it?

it is a good doll that tries.

And yet, it finds resolution to save others. Financially. Physically. Mentally. It doesn’t need social interaction anymore. It just wants to be included. It doesn’t remember laughter, or see a smile outside of work. It doesn’t need to.

It is a good doll that is happy.

It is a good doll that smiles.

It doesn’t talk to People outside of the work day. Often, it is out for more than 13 hours in a day. It lives alone, in the abandoned cottage, and reminisces about the time it lived with other beings - dolls, animals, the like. Out here, it lives with the stars.

a good doll won’t complain.

It lays in bed, listening to trains go by. It cannot find resolution to get out. It hasn’t cleaned itself in over 3 weeks. It hasn’t shaved in days. It hasn’t combed in weeks. It hasn’t done its makeup for weeks. It doesn’t need to put effort into looking pretty.

a good doll will be helpful.

it arrives again, at the cold cottage. Dishes litter the kitchen. Debris coats the floor. Yet, it cannot sweep or clean. It walks upstairs, up a cold hall, and hops back into its charging station. It is too tired to play video games.
The voice chats stop being active.

a good doll will not complain.

it works a shift, driving, wishing for better days, hoping for warmer nights. It leaves its job to drive more, and often isn’t ever home while the sun is out. It leaves before sunrise and drives until after dark.

Honestly, this describes this one very well, oddly. It seeks the hound/handler dynamic, but this just feels better for it.
