I think everyone agreeing to just keep eating after times up for an eating contest is the most in character thing for the kirby cast to do.

I do greatly prefer the team 1 -> team 2 alternating mostly because it means the GM doesn't need to have one massive turn and the fact that it stops the "these characters on the same team are on the same initiative clump so they can just kind of kill someone with little or no resistance."
