It’s a good number for Blood on the Clocktower… Sea Dracula or Ghost Court? Matrix game? Diplomacy variant but with funny voices and hats?

The Internet Archive has a good collection of Diplomacy zines. UK Diplomacy Archive also has a good collection.

Honestly, it still rules! I ran a 17-issue Dip zine for my students over the summer and it was very well received.

Networks - choose a zine (probably from a provided list) and then create a citation network graph of every other zine mentioned (and every zine they mention) and annotated bibliography.

The transition from zines to websites/blogs feels important, maybe compare and contrast a zine and site/blog on the same topic. Could be a good chance to introduce the internet archive.

Swaps and in-kind trades feel like a key aspect of the culture. Maybe students find a zinester to swap with and combine it with an interview or correspondence?

Play-by-Mail - Run a weekly postal game zine for students (or have them collectively run a postal game zine for another class). Diplomacy? Railway Rivals?

Zine Fest - reserve a public space and run a tiny zine festival to showcase your zines at the end of the semester. A table for you and a table for you and a table for you!

University Archives - take a field trip to the library to deposit a collection of your zines in the archives. Next time you teach the class, take field trip to access previous year’s archived zines.

Treasure hunt - find a zine in the wild, document and reflect on the space where it was found. Who frequents the space? What themes connect the zine to the space?

Dwarves are hatched from eggs (unconfirmed), kobolds are very much into hip hop, eagles are big jerks.

Maybe use this on the back cover so that it mirrors the front cover?

You should totally make a game that you start playing with a new ink cartridge and the game ends when it's empty. Could be your printer cartridge, could be your fountain pen.

That was me 5 years ago. Drafting a syllabus and then doing informal interviews with folk who were already teaching game design and getting their feedback was really helpful.

If you wanted some fresh eyes or potentially 1/3, I’d be excited to check it out…
