The thing is, voting is a singular opportunity. If you didn't vote for president, you have to wait 4 years. getting involved in the community is very important, but you can start any day.
It's a matter of focus on a certain point in time. No distractions.

The problem is not people who are already inclined to vote.
The problem is people who are complacent or ignorant or think that voting is not critical. These people cost the election. Broadcasting that voting is not critical ("there are other good ways") is not going to help get them to vote.

Maybe that's why it apparently moved in the direction of Regulations rather than Directives that require transposition. Not that that guaranteed success, see for example Medical Devices - what a disaster.

So much more challenging to actually talk with the people you disagree with. Unpleasant? Certainly. But that's the only way peace is made. Not by telling your own group how just you all are, and how vile "the others" are.
