I approached this particular bridge from the west originally and it didn't seem to be much - a road going across the Rio Grande Gorge in NM. Walked out and was properly amazed at the view, but it wasn't til I crossed over and looked back that the bridge showed itself as the magnificent beast it is.
The bridge over the Rio Grande Gorge near Taos NM. The view is from a car park on one end of the bridge looking east. The sun is beginning to set creating intricate shadows from the bridge to the walls of the gorge. In the distance, mountains seem to rest on the bridge deck and reach upwards. The sky is full of clouds, most dark but a few show white at the upper edges where they can be seen next to bits of blue. In the foreground, rocky ground shows scrub bushes and scraggly plant along with chunks of rock.

We the people.
This is a shot of some elders attending a "no kings" rally. One sits in a chair in the foreground. She's wearing a chicken outfit (with a clear poncho over it to keep off the rain). She's holding both a small American flag and her walking cane in her right hand and is smiling at the photographer (me). Another lady stands behind her in both raingear and sunglasses (we are in the NW) holding a sign which reads: I miss decency - crazy is a crappy substitute. To her right, another smiling lady in a bright red jacket stands behind her walker with a sign which reads: Make America kind again. To her right, a gentleman in a blue jacket and baseball cap holds a sign which I cannot read well enough to quote. To his right, another lady in a flowered dress and teal jacket sits in her wheelchair with a sign lifted high that starts with: Resist! Behind all of them one can see a blue tent and other people milling about. Fall leaves are scattered on the green grass beneath the protesters. What strikes me most about this photo is the people are smiling and present and showing up to make their voices heard.

The left third of the photo is taken up with a Jade plant in a black plastic pot. The far right shows just a bit of a chair back. In between a black cat sits curled on a bookshelf with their front paws tucked up against the lower sill of a window. Their head is stretched upwards as they stare at something in the outside world. A red collar is a nice spark of color against the cat's black fur.

I wish I could credit the artist, but I don't know their name. Like the work though.
A seagoing vessel that looks like a mix of small cabin cruiser and sailboat sits on a tranquil patch of water. 4 flags of decreasing sizes flutter from a line reaching up from the main mast. A crescent moon is positioned so it appears to be a mainsail. Light comes from the right of the photo only illuminating the moon. The boas remains in dark tones, almost silhouette. The color palate is from a bright cream of the eastern edge of the moon to various shades of clay from taupe to burnt sienna - the top of the photo is rich in tone and softens as the sky reaches the sea. 2 human figures can be detected - on appears to be steering from aft, and another perches on the edge of the upper cabin just left of the mainsail.

This photo starts at the bottom with a dark expanse of grasses. At the halfway mark, a metal bench with high cross piece sits to the left just before a row of higher vegetation including pussy willows mark the edge of an expanse of water. On the right edge of the photo, a cherry tree both leafed and bare stretches up out the top of the photo. Two branches in particular reach towards the center of the scene not quite making it that far. On the other side of the water, the ground rises in a hill ending about 2/3 up the page. One full tree silhouette perches on the left of the screen above and to the left of the bench. A few branches of another tree peek in from the very edge of the scene. Just above the center of the hill, the sun rises. The fogginess of the air not only puts a mist over the water, but softens the sphere of yellow. The air seems to cup the sun's bright globe with a softer orange V formation. Darker clouds/Air draw a band to the edges of the screen. Above the sun a band of softer yellow merges and morphs into a gray blue that goes to the top of the screen. The photo has a peaceful vibe.

Sometimes they stay in "cute pose" long enough to photo
A long-haired multi-colored tabby cat is sitting - perhaps lounging - on the end of a taupe couch. The photo only shows the arm of the unit and part of a back cushion. To the lower right of the photo, parts of smaller cushions - one white and gray striped and one of the same material and color of the couch - lean towards the couch arm. The cat's body from hips south are behind the pillows. The upper body reaches up and their paws reach out to the edge of the couch arm. Their head is tilted down and away from their paws - they appear to be looking at something on further down from past our photo's end.

Large letters from C to J run upwards letting a book searcher plan where to search first. A bit of a matching bookcase is seen to the left of the stairs. Just a hint of a highly carved decorative cap to the staircase peeks down from the ceiling of this alcove.

In my car I have a box of tissues. While listening to the radio, I'll hear something I want to save so I scribble on the box. Today when changing the box, I found this - I don't know from whence it came or to what it referenced, but I'm glad I found it all the same.

My friend's service dog was aging and many of us were concerned. A family member gave the little fella to my friend so the original could help train him. I titled this snap "adoration."
An elderly German Shepherd sits on grass facing to the left of the view. She is looking straight ahead. In between her front paws, a small black Labrador puppy in a bright green collar sits with his left body pressed up against the elder dog. His head is lifted and his eyes are focused on his new best friend.

There's tired then there's taking-advantage-of-soft-and-sun tired.
An orange cat sprawls with his head to the left of the shot and his forepaws dangling downward on a green-on-green swirled blanket which is covering the back of a couch. The cat is lit from left by bright sun so that his head, paws, shoulders and part of his back are brightly lit. His nether regions are in shade as is the rest of the couch.

Bridge at the end of Church Island, Wales
This photo concentrates on stone pillars holding up a bridge at the end of Church Island in Wales. The camera looks upwards from the pillar next to the island side. One can see bits of 6 pillars and the end piece on the mainland. Arches connect in a way to form arches of which three are clearly seen. At the top of the bridge on can see both a railing and a high almost turret-like piece. The sky is filled with low lying clouds of differing shades of gray. Midspan in the water a spill of rock juts into the water which is a greenish gray with some movement evident on one side of the rock spill. On the far side trees and bushes show several shades of dark and mottled green. One can glimpse a white building about half way up a rise in the landscape. On the island side, a small wall of rock separates the viewer from both water and start of the bridge.

This North Woods Walton Club Toast from 1858 says: “Blackflies, mosquitoes and Punkies: a cosmopolitan police, detailed by Devine Providence to guard the great hunting park of the Republic from the incursions of cockney poachers and murderers of deer in summer. Long may they wave!”

Still going through pics of “Adirondack experience.” These jumped out at me today
This exhibit lives in the”Forest” section of the building dedicated to artist’s work in the Adirondacks. This well lit display features a modern take on the classic Adirondack chair, a fish painting with an elaborate wooden frame and a stunning chair sculpture which captures both classic Adirondack stying and the tree from which it came. This mountain painting hangs below the lettering designating this space to artists who focus on the mountains. What I especially like is the sketching behind the lettering designating. The entire building is full of things like that. Under a painting in “Light” lurks the sketch of an old lamp. It’s fun to look for the art beside, above, and below THE ART The quote “for river or lake navigation nothing of civilized invention equals the Indian bark in strength,lightness, roominess and beauty” by J.J. Roche in “Forest and Stream” 1874 is adjacent to a beautiful bark and wood canoe. The entrance to the “water” section of art is through a hallway lighted and decorated in blue. There are wavy strips of blue materials on the ceiling and blue carpet on the floor. Display cases start before the entry sign and share space with paintings, sketches and other art as one walks through.

Going thru pics of recent trip to “Adirondack Experience.” I’m struck by how themes repeat in buildings and exhibits but stay so individual. Here’s a few shots of carefully created interiors.
This recreation of a guide’s cabin is found in the “Woods and Water” building. Rustic in nature, the room includes a bearskin rug, a braided cloth rug, a wood stove, a bookcase and tables. There are maps, water bucket, and other necessities tucked everywhere This living room resides in the recreated hotel/lodge building. Here the atmosphere is less rustic as evidenced by the oriental rug, upright piano, enameled wood stove and fringed floor lamp. This room recreates an artist’s cabin and exists as a separate building/display. Along with the simple wood stove, there’s a bed, bureau, and two chairs. An artist’s easel with a landscape is cuddled next to some simple shelving. This example of a typical one room schoolhouse also exists as a separate building/exhibit. Around the walls are photographs of many classes and building with information of how many grades were served and for how long. The wood stove takes center stage here, with examples of school desks, benches and tables are on the room edges and filling into the center. There are some materials that children visiting the exhibit can interact with. The walls also have large blackboards filled with examples of lessons.

My sister caught this photo of my dad (95) and his pal Zorro just chillin'
A dark indoor pathway leads to a mostly open door showing a yard of green grasses and granite rocks. A man sits on the stoop looking outward. Only half of him shows. A tuxedo cat in his black and white sprawls near the man with his paws reaching towards the man's left hip. The photo has a "black and white" feel probably because of the lighting (or lack thereof).

One neat thing about “the Adirondack Experience” is how subjects are in the main museum building and may have a building unto themselves. example? Logging. In the main building there’s a great display including a place to try unjamming logs. Then there’s this building:
This is the outside of the building entitled “Work in the Woods” that includes machinery, dioramas, stories and a horse This full sized horse statue is attached to equipment used to haul logs. I enjoy the horse has a view of snow covered trees to look at This piece of logging equipment has both short (on the green pedestal) and log (a sign nearby) to explain where it’s from and what it did. There is also audio available. Thoughtful touches throughout.

On a recent trip to see family in upstate NY, I took 8 hours over 2 days to explore “the Adirondack Experience.” So much FUN to press the plunger in the mine, row the guide boat, and play with so many other interactive places. More pics to follow.
This display invites u to touch natural materials from pinecones to stone to wood to explore textures as well as “looks.” This display invites people to design their own rustic furniture on sheets of black paper then to hang their work for others to explore. This interactive display invites u to take flexible strands from a basket and use them to create a chair back design using a wooden frame that has multiple places to thread the strands on and through This small sign invites one to open all the drawers of a cabinet that rests below it to explore Adirondack curiosities. I opened drawers to find rocks, eggs, skeletons and animal scat!
