Edward Hopper painted Solitude in both crowded rooms and empty streets.

My favorite of his is Corn Hill. All sloping hills, scattered flowers, and aloneness you can choose.

Ever since I first 2021, I imagine what happens outside the frame.

His name echoed loudly at Gathering of Nations. Months later, I sat with his family and cried together. This story has stayed with me. It should stay with you too.

Just a picnic with the love of my life and our favorite alani energy drink flavors this season. I love me a soft afternoon, sugar, and mountain views. ⛰️

This is one of those examples where, if the flood hadn’t happened and a camp director was telling you about this story it would be a perfect example of red tape, bureaucracy, the hassle of regulation etc. And yet.

This morning I walked through rows and rows of lavender and took the deepest sweetest inhale in days. I came home with huge bouquets in my arms, with a sunflower in the middle, and a little more breath in my lungs than I left with.

Sometimes, beauty just... finds you first. 🌻

"The mountain didn’t ask me to be strong. It just asked me to breathe."
A quiet hike with family. A loud reminder that I’m still healing—and still here.

Accidental poetry in local news:
“I thought his neighbors were going to be mad at me.”
“Why?”
“Because, even though it was an accident, I thought they’d hate me for what he did.”
This line was delivered between tears.
The guilt we carry even when it was never ours to hold.

Sometimes “working on the novel” looks like:
• thrifted emotional support water bottle
• floral cover-up
• my favorite sunglasses
•& a fast, weird good book (One Word Kill by Mark Lawrence)

Taking time to breathe and refill the well.

Today, I walked with joy, grief, memory, and hope.
I walked for the kid I was, and for the stories I’ll tell next.
