UAE has no influence on the game; it's essentially the Switzerland of cricket

I wasn't stating an opinion, so misinformation is out of the question here. What I was stating was the findings of a report commissioned by the EU.

Acknowledging limitations of one's country/bloc isn't defeatist. Refusing to do so, is.

Most such countries are states with limited capacities and/or American adversaries. Emulating them isn't the solution.

Europe and the rest need to realise that they've fallen by the wayside & promote concerted efforts to catch up with US. Banning is never the solution.

GDPR, while well-intentioned, has been a disaster for Europe. Even the Draghi Report concedes that much.

Add to that the blocking of US companies, Europe would essentially be back in the dark ages.

I've seen this 'data-as-leverage' playbook thrown around in India as well but no-one seems to care about what comes next. What/who's gonna replace these companies? Local copies? That's not sustainable. Besides, Europe as it is has done a lot to reign in these tech companies with nothing to show for.

tbf it isn't exactly china +1; they're dispersing production along product lines- iphone & accessories in India, macs etc in SE Asia. A more complex and global supply chain than ever before

Europe would've to make MAJOR concessions just to get the ball rolling... from reducing compliance burden for Indian companies to learning the art of not commenting on India's local issues. Tough!
