Culturally we don't have the time or memory to remember these shows and I think that's doing them a disservice. A few examples (some I've seen and others not). Night Sky with JK Simmons and Sissy Spacek on Prime, I'm A Virgo, also on Prime and bet you didn't even know about the next one ...

A case in point is the never ending flood of (seemingly quite good) content produced by streamers. Every week there's at least 2 or 3 things I want to watch. I'm regularly several seasons behind on most of my watch lists (The Americans Season 2 anyone?).

It would seem that we've also created a new role in society for people who like to keep up (me) through social media influencers. I now regularly find out about new film, music and tv releases through social media.

In case anyone is interested my pitch was entitled Home Truths: Coming of Age in Social Housing. The films I selected were Kes (1969), Rita, Sue and Bob Too (1987), Ratcatcher (1999), Somers Town (2008) and Attack the Block (2011).

I think if the studios questioned the assumed logic of 'we have X weeks over the summer to release this film' it would be better for everyone. Don't start me on why films have to be released on Thurs/Fri!!!!

I would argue that the entire model means that the studios are creating the environment where certain film 'must' flop (but who knows which ones!?). This could be avoided.

It bogles me that these films are years in development, take months to film, edit and advertise and they are reliant on getting bums on seats for around 4 days to make or break the movie.

Wouldn't it make more sense to release these films over a longer time frame and allow them time to breathe?

I don't understand the logic of squeezing so many films into such a short space of time. Also, after FF at the end of July there doesn't seem to be any new big releases in August, when most people/kids are on summer holidays.

Also, my local multiplex only plays the latest release on the big screen and after one week of release it's related to a C100 seat screen.

Also, considering the reduced window to home rental, I know I can catch up with these at home before the end of the summer.
