@jimismash.bsky.social was kinda getting there, but the TL;DR version of the libertarian read is that government regulations and a large state are preventing people (the superheroes) from achieving their potential.

thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to link me some stuff, looking forward to it.

lol, touche. I guess since I hadn't seen her more recent work I was hedging my bets, in case she did a Fetterman, but I'll take @sarahjeong.bsky.social's word for her continuing her excellence.

I'm with you on the Times, but that seems a bit unfair to The Atlantic, personally. I know they post the occasional stupid thing from someone annoying and occasionally infuriating, but most of their stuff is great, and the fact that they employ @adamserwer.bsky.social is all I need to know.

Sadly I lost sight of her post-Gawker; I'm sure I've missed out on some great stuff.

Caity Weaver was a great writer and a lot of fun to read; her work on Gawker was like 90% of the reason I'd read it.

I actually set up my VR outside years ago and played Alyx - when the Vortigaunts started chanting and creating a whirlwind, a breeze came through at that moment - the timing was perfect, it was incredibly immersive.

I haven't played Alyx since, because it'll never live up to that moment now.

different times, different times. I didn't know the General Lee had an unusual horn sound. The show was a bit before my time but you're making me realize I never watched an episode of that either. Kinda blowing my mind right now.

I wasn't disputing your point, just sharing a related story about Lincoln I enjoy, that I figured you or others might appreciate. I grew up in Texas and I honestly have no idea if I've even heard Dixie; legit have no idea what it sounds like.

Your point is taken and appreciated, but Lincoln argued we won the song in the war! 😁
