Toby and Mia give us moments of cuteness that are so precious. Toby is my 11 1/2 year old special needs dog and Mia is our new kitten. They ADORE each other.

Though it's been a really tough week losing Dempsey, animals seem to give us lessons in being present. Cuteness overload warning! "Grandpa Toby" with little Mia, our kitten. Her having him, while he's on this Earth, is helping her a lot! Him too! He adores her!

Got the blood work back and it was devistating news. He was riddled with cancer, likely Lymphoma. Coupled with the fact that he was 15, had a urethra blockage, and was skin and bones (likely from the cancer), we had to do the right thing and let him go. He's back with Sophie now. RIP Dempey!

Where's Mia?? Oh, there she is! She's settling into the big pack of animals just fine. And they are slowly getting adjusted to her as well. My 3 dogs and one cat are all older, so she's just a huge bundle of energy for them currently.

Lucy as a Puppy. Her Mom was in a kill shelter in KY, hours from being put down, with seven pups in her. Lucy and Linus were the first to be adopted after Mom. The Mom was only 1 year old and only 27 lbs. Lucy is 65 and Linus is 70!

Mia's getting pretty comfortable running all around the house now. After a morning of playing, she's decided her favorite spot is in my wife's soft blanket basket. She loves my Bengals blanket most! She's waking up from a nap on this one!

My Sophie crossed over at 17 last month. She'll be super sweet to him. She was to everyone, including her doggy brothers and sisters (and kitty brother) while here. They are perfect angels to us while they are here and so missed when they leave us!

My best bud, Toby, got his long walk on Saturday. Despite his functional deformity, he still hangs in there for a mile long walk on Saturday mornings. Swim therapy season starts in a few months! Love me some greying black lab. Toby's 1/2 lab, half Bassett.

This was Joey next to his pal, Sophie. We lost Joe back in 2018. We just lost Sophie 3 weeks ago. She was 17. I think she thought he was just a huge cat.

In my old house in Ohio, we had a bird feeder right out front. It got tons of birds and squirrels! Our back was surrounded by Walnut trees, so the squirrels were everywhere! My Dempsey and Sophie checking the action out from around 2018.

She's been gone a little over a week. The house seems so quiet without my little girl Sophie. How a five pound cat had so much personality is stunning to me. Just look at this picture of my office and you can see why.
