No one in his right mind believes that the Christian right is actually Christian.

Let senators try out this approach first. When they, and their families, have stories about how much they love it I’m sure that will convince the rest of the country that it’s a great approach.

Yes, but I would also go after him for destroying the house just as vigorously. And in a world where I can’t seem to get anyone to care about the murder & theft, maybe addressing the house is all I get. It’s an old saw, but Al Capone was convicted of tax evasion.

If I rented my house and the tenant was a liar, a cheat, a murderer, a con man with no regard for laws or customs and he tore down part of my house and built another structure, I would not say “let’s keep the house in perspective”. I’d evict him.

When do we stop saying “he acts like a gangster”? He is a gangster. Not a villian in a movie - he’s a gangster in real life. Threatening other countries, attacking his enemies, protecting his friends, helping himself to the money. He’s not pretending to be anything else. He’s saying it plainly.

We’ve taken the trash of society and given them bonuses to carry guns and bully people they don’t like while wearing a cosplay uniform.

But it will stand. Who will stand up to it? Congress? The judiciary? Not a chance. And when individual citizens have had enough and ICE agents get shot, Trump will have what he wants to send in the military. I don’t see how this de-escalates and ends well.

She’s not really his Roy Cohn. Roy Cohn taught Trump how to be a criminal. Bondi isn’t teaching Trump anything. He’s teaching her how to support a mob boss.

Kimmel was canceled because Trump has disliked him for years and took an opportunity to go after him. People are being fired for being on Trump’s enemy list either as individuals or as part of a group he doesn’t like.

Honestly, I’m tired off thinking “well, now Congressional leaders will surely say something”. At this point, I doubt that they would say anything meaningful even if Trump’s next move is to ban the Democratic Party altogether and only allow Republicans to hold Congressional seats.
September 18, 2025 at 1:47 AM
Yes! So there is some hope. Actually Phil Scott is a reminder that the moderate Republican is not totally extinct.
August 20, 2025 at 1:19 PM
There is no Republican governor who is going to refuse to deploy their National Guard when Trump calls for it. To think they might is pure silliness.

I unsubscribed to the Washington Post a while ago. Now the Times. What publications do people subscribe to anymore?

Given the crass stupidity of these letters, the complimentary closing is a cherry on top. It’s a cheap, chintzy copy of a colonial-era closing. “With best wishes, I am, sincerely DJT” copies the formality but skips the content. Like gold leaf on a cardboard box. Which would be classic Trump, too.

Musk did not bring efficiency & improved services to Twitter. He broke it, cut it, and glued some pieces back together - and it shows. Relatively, it’s a pretty simple app so at least it basically works.
That won’t work with government. And don’t tell me he has some other master plan.

Even assuming they are applying “the ends justify the means” gives them too much credit. They will make up anything to avoid admitting they were wrong, including lying about things we can plainly read in the Signal chat. There’s no “PR strategy”. When punched, punch back twice as hard. That’s it.
March 27, 2025 at 4:42 PM
After Waltz, Hegseth, Gabbard, etc realize that there are no consequences here they are going to view Congressional testimony as a pleasure, not a trial. They will smirk, lecture, talk over the questions, and use it as just another messaging platform. It’s good TV and Trump will love it.
March 26, 2025 at 11:27 PM
He needs to explain to the country why he was using Signal to communicate classified information.

He needs to explain to Trump why he has Goldberg in his contacts.

I had a fleeting “poor Usha” thought when Trump picked Vance. She looked like she might be a normal woman caught it a bad situation. But you’re right. She’s now executing the agenda just like the rest of the team.
March 24, 2025 at 11:47 AM
You’d think that Republicans who are planning to hold a town hall meeting would speak up because their constituents are certainly not going to hold back.
March 21, 2025 at 11:48 AM
How does this not end in violence? Normal folks I know who would never have condoned it now say, in social conversations, things like “hopefully someone shoots him”, “I can’t see this ending until someone shoots him”, “I would do it if I could”… it’s really shocking.

At what point do these organizations - the Naval Academy, West Point, Kennedy Center - push back and say “thanks but we decline to be a tool of this fascist administration”? Their silence condemns them to the pile of historical irrelevance. No one will respect these once great institutions.

We know that Trump goes for “central casting” stereotypes. If I asked central casting to send me someone who portrays weaponized incompetence and belligerent stupidity, I swear they’d send me Hohman immediately.
