You are correct, it’s difficult to detach without a similar platform to fill the gap. I no longer post anything but lost pets and local shelter information to get animals adopted, but I do use many groups which are local and international, along with the occasional marketplace purchase.

FB isn’t just the pictures/vids and family/friends connections, it’s the international groups, local groups and marketplace. It is much more than a social media platform. Unfortunately, there is nothing close to the same for those specific uses.
If there were you might see a huge exodus.
