I only just recently learned that during Trump 1, they paid out a cash settlement to all the ‘targeted’ nonprofits from the fraudulent IRS scandal.. insane Grift.

There are a few basic rules, such as “Never point a gun at anything you don’t intend to kill” but re:trigger discipline, if you’re not ready to take a shot, you need to keep your finger outside the trigger guard. It’s incredibly easy to jerk or make an awkward movement that fires the gun otherwise.

Which is crazy because I was recently at a street fair in an extremely red area of a swing state (Trump won the county by 30 points) and the local Ds were there with a tent doing outreach. It’s the bare minimum. Not glamorous but necessary.

They just arrested a Trump supporter in Michigan who had threatened to kill Trump and BiBi if they had anything to do with Kirk’s assassination.. I wonder where he got that idea!

I agree - we need to criminalize this immediately. Just need a non-controversial definition for the criminal code:
* Sandwich: Food consisting of bread with meat, cheese or other fillings eaten as a light meal (eg hoagies, subs, PB&Js, bahn mis, hot dogs, chicken wraps, choco tacos, pop tarts, etc)

Federal system confuses me.. so he’s barred in NY but can file in FL during his AUSA stint and in DC with his DOJ stint with no issue? Interesting. I suppose state-specific issues wouldn’t matter to DOJ lawyers so makes intuitive sense, but seems quirky.

Is it normal that a DOJ trial attorney based in DC isn’t barred in DC? Per his LinkedIn, looks like he’s ‘Assistant Chief of Jury Trials’ after 4 years as litigation counsel, 2 years as a trial attorney in DC w/ healthcare fraud team and 5 years as AUSA in SDFL.

Yeah seems very Taleb-esque. Right once in a big splashy way, not entirely clear he’s been right often enough since then to make money which is a pretty big indictment of the accuracy of a trader.

Admittedly my complaints are mostly just grasping for what could have made a difference to the electorate.. *feels* like more public DOJ action could have helped, especially in summer 2024. But maybe not! Teflon Don seems immune to normal scandal fallout.

This is where I come down too. There are good reasons for those DOJ rules, but look where we ended up by following them.. people would complain in the counterfactual where cases were dismissed due to DOJ impropriety, but feels like 30 speaking indictments and perp walks would‘ve been valuable.
