Personally, I would consider notions of decency to be a protected belief. They don’t have to be embedded in a religious belief although they often go together. But we irreligious also have deeply held beliefs about privacy.

Yes to the first line. As regards the second clause, much of the panic is also not manufactured but arises from the trauma and caution of the many women who have been personally harassed and assaulted, or whose friends have been. It also arises from religious beliefs and beliefs about decency.

Well until now people presumably had to carry their gender recognition certificates. But the court listed a raft of areas where the implications are more serious and in practice it’s the cases where people’s looks do not match their certification which are contentious.
